BLOODYWOOD – NU DELHI

Hell yea

Nu Metal holds a special place in my heart as some of the first cds I ever bought. Current trends are focusing on early 2000s sounds, Nu Metal and rapped lyrics are making a comeback and bands worldwide are embracing this. India as a country and cultural force has been making itself known in the mainstream with movies like RRR and in the underground Kolkuta is one of the most potent scenes. Bloodywood is a band that exemplifies both the nostalgic sounds of the early aughts and of their home India.

I first came across the band on YouTube via some cool music videos of redone Bollywood songs, and upon recruiting Rapper/vocalist Raoul Kerr I was fully in (my name is Raul so I’m very biased here). 2022 saw the release of their first full length of original songs Rakshak. 2025s release NU DELHI is a perfect followup.

Nu Delhi is recorded in English (Rapping) and Hindi (Cleans and Harsh) with a guest appearance by BABYMETAL on one song (in Japanese of course). The album is a love letter to India and primarily the music culture as a whole, the album is of course named after the capital city New Delhi. Throughout the 33 minute runtime listeners will experience many different sounds and the albums is always entertaining. Lyrics skew positive, a refreshing change to the genre norms. Bloodywood have in the past supported mental health initiatives and are awesome for doing so. For some more backgroubd check out a short documentary about the bands debut performance below.

A concise and exceedingly fun album Nu Delhi will get multiple replays throughout the year and establishes Bloodywood as a band to watch. They are supporting Babymetal on a summer 2025 tour and dates are below. Check out the videos below and follow links to listen and buy the album.
